7 Self-Care Activities To Try Right Now

Self-care is one of those things that is truly essential to our over well being and happiness. We spend so much time on everyone else and far too often neglect ourselves. So here is the really cool thing about self-care it’s so much easier than you think and most of the time can entail something you truly love and enjoy that will naturally just uplift you and make you feel better.

Self-care activities

Here are some out of the box self-care activities you need to try right now to put a little pep in your step.

  1. Forest Bathing (Shinrin-Yoku): This Japanese practice of immersing yourself in nature, focusing on the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest. It’s not just a walk; it’s a mindful experience that can reduce stress and improve overall well-being. Check out my short video on Forest Bathing. I’m talking to Nature Connection Coach Hana Lee Goldin for the hottest tips when Forest Bathing.
  2. Sound Healing: Explore the therapeutic benefits of sound by listening to specific frequencies or using singing bowls, chimes, or gongs. Sound therapy can promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and enhance mental clarity. Yes. I’ve got a video on this too. Checkout my sound healing session with Sound Practitioner Minna here.
  3. Art Therapy: Engage in creative expression through painting, drawing, or sculpting. Art therapy can be a powerful tool for self-exploration, stress relief, and emotional healing. This post here will give you more insights into how healing it can truly be – 10 Ways Creating Art Healed Me
  4. Journaling with Prompts: Instead of traditional journaling, try using prompts or guided journaling exercises. This can help you reflect on specific topics, set goals, and gain insights into your thoughts and emotions. Download my Ultimate Self-Inquisition Guide. It’s a 28 page contemplative workbook – full of prompts to help you go deeper.
  5. Floatation Therapy: Experience sensory deprivation in a float tank filled with saltwater. This unique environment can induce deep relaxation, relieve muscle tension, and promote mental clarity and introspection. I know this one’s a little out there, but it’s shown to have enormous benefits.
  6. Laughter Yoga: Join a laughter yoga class or practice it at home. Laughter has numerous health benefits, including reducing stress hormones, boosting the immune system, and improving mood. Watch my interview on the Blossom Your Awesome Podcast – Laughter Therapy: Using Laughter To Heal. We all know Laughter Truly Is The Best Medicine here.
  7. Volunteering: Helping others can be a fulfilling form of self-care. Volunteer for a cause you’re passionate about, whether it’s helping at a local shelter, participating in community cleanups, or assisting with educational programs. Contributing positively to the community can enhance your sense of purpose and well-being.
