1. What Are Psychedelics And How Do They Work?
What are psychedelics and how do they work?
Let’s take a deep dive.
Although psychedelics have been considered taboo for eons, there has been a resurgence of interest in the potential benefits. This renewed interest comes from new evidence and more conversations around psychedelics potentially being helpful in treating mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, addiction, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Psychedelics for self-improvement are becoming more and more popular. You’re probably already privy to this.
Psychedelics are various substances that cause changes in perception, thought, emotion, and consciousness. They can produce profound mystical experiences and insights that have been shown to be beneficial for personal growth.
Please note: Despite the potential benefits of psychedelics, they are still considered to be risky and should only be used under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
While there are promising findings around their alleged benefits, there is a lot of debate surrounding psychedelics. For some, they are considered tools for expanding consciousness and achieving spiritual growth. For others, they are seen as dangerous drugs with the potential to cause serious harm.
So, do psychedelics work? The answer is complicated. On one hand, there is a great deal of anecdotal evidence supporting their efficacy. On the other hand, scientific research on the topic remains inconclusive. I like taking a look at both sides of the debate to try to determine whether psychedelics actually can aid in spiritual awakening.

For this, as a first step, I suggest you listen in to my conversation on the Blossom Your Awesome Podcast with Psychedelic integration specialist Greg Lawrence.
Most people think of psychedelics as drugs that distort reality and make you see things that aren’t really there. While this may be true for some substances, there are also psychedelics that have the ability to open up your mind and help you connect with your spiritual side.
For centuries, these types of substances have been used in spiritual practices around the world to help people tap into deeper states of consciousness and personal growth.
Doing psychoactive drugs for spiritual purposes is gaining more and more popularity these days.
Awakening experiences are very common for those who go in with the intention to heal or go deeper with themselves. Psychedelic substances encourage us to feel more deeply through not only the enhanced level of feelings that come up but also the effects they have on neurological pathways and our physiology.
Spiritual experiences are par for the course when you are on a spiritual quest. The psychedelic experience can leave you feeling more deeply and potentially healed from a lifelong trauma. The positive effects can be profound for some. It can be a powerful and transformative experience that leaves you touched at your core.
The use of psychedelics allows people to enter altered states of consciousness and gives them a feeling of self-transcendence. It can be powerful and for some who microdose it can be a powerful enhancement for daily life.

Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert were the ones who brought it to the mainstream and the masses promoting its widespread use and popularity. Like other psychedelics, LSD can cause profound changes in perception and consciousness, making it a popular tool for exploring spirituality.” Timothy Leary seems to get a lot of the credit here for having invented LSD, but really Dr. Hofmann had been

9. WHAT IF I BAD TRIP WHILE TAKING PSYCHEDELICS?
If you’re like most people, the thought of a bad trip on psychedelics has probably most certainly crossed your mind or at least you’ve heard a story or two. I’m sure you’ve had thoughts like –
What if I lose touch with reality?
What if I start having a panic attack?
What if I can’t control my thoughts?
While there is no way to completely eliminate the risk of a bad trip, there are things you can do to minimize your chances. By following these tips, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy your psychedelic experience without fear.
The number one thing is to do these with someone who you trust and can be your sober friend while you have the experience. And I know what you’re thinking – I want my friend in on the action. It makes perfect sense, but you want at least one person there who can help you if you do start feeling anxious or panicky at any point.
The next piece of advice is to do a lot of research as to where you get your psychedelics. Ask a lot of questions and be sure they explain dosage and how strong they are. Depending on what you take there are different dosages and suggestions. Body weight is also a factor at times so you have to consider everything before diving in.
The third essential tip is it is always a good idea to start small. If you’re a first-timer on a new substance never just take the whole thing. Take a little and just feel it out the first time. Micro-dose essentially. You have to go all in the very first time. You can take it in little doses. This will help you get the feel of it and give you greater insight for next time.
The fourth tip is to be sure to have plenty of water, tea, and a blanket, and be in a comfortable place with an accessible restroom, pillows, or in nature, whatever you need to be comfortable. Don’t do it in a car in a parking lot or in a space that does not feel warm and fuzzy cause that will not make for a good trip.
Lastly – if you want to do this for the sake of spiritual awakening then working with a professional to help you set some great intentions can be an extremely powerful way to go about it.
